Welcome Back: What This Blog Is Now, and How I Can Help With Your Room

October 20, 2026

Welcome — and if you have been here before, welcome back. This blog has been quiet for a while because the work moved: for the last few years most of my design happens online, for clients all over the country, alongside full-service projects in Los Angeles and Orange County. I have cleaned the blog up, kept every project, drawing and concept board, and I am starting to post again. Here is what you will find and how I can help.

What this blog is

Real projects, not stock photos. The concept boards show how I pull a room together before anything is bought; the design drawings show the floor plans, elevations and lighting plans behind the finished rooms; the project posts show what it looked like when it was done. From here on I am adding short, practical posts on how to plan a room, choose finishes, and avoid the expensive mistakes I see most often.

How I work with people now

  • Complete Room Design — $397 flat rate. Send me measurements and photos of your room and I design it for you: a furniture floor plan, concept images, furnishing and paint selections and a shopping list you can buy from as your budget allows. Any room, anywhere.

Why trust me with your room

I have designed hundreds of homes, offices and online projects, from studio apartments to full houses, and everything on this blog came out of that work. I will tell you plainly when something will not fit, when a cheaper option will look just as good, and when it is worth spending more. My clients come back for their next room, and most of my online design work comes from referrals.

Have a question about your own space? Book a consultation, or start with the $397 Complete Room Design. I look forward to working on your room.

Design Drawings: 23 Floor Plans, Elevations and Custom Furniture Drawings

Before a room is furnished or a kitchen is torn out, it is drawn. Design drawings are how I test a layout, size the furniture, place the lighting and show a contractor or a cabinet maker exactly what to build. Below are 23 drawings from my projects: furniture floor plans, kitchen and bathroom plans with elevations, a wet bar, an outdoor kitchen, and custom furniture drawings shown beside the finished piece.

If you are planning your own room, this is the step to borrow: draw it to scale before you buy. If you would rather have it drawn for you, design drawings and furniture layouts are $150 per hour, delivered online within a few days. To learn to read and use drawings like these, my Interior Design Drawings & Space Planning library includes hundreds of plans and a 32-page guide.

A note on the custom pieces: the nightstands, console and sofa above were drawn first, priced from the drawing, built by local workrooms, and photographed in the finished rooms. A drawing is what makes a one-of-a-kind piece possible at a sane price, because everyone is building the same thing.

Mood Boards: 30 Concept Boards from Real Interior Design Projects

A mood board (I usually call them concept boards) is a single page that shows how a room will feel before anything is ordered: the sofa, the rug, the lighting, the art, the paint and the small things that make it look finished, all placed together so you can see whether they actually belong in the same room. I make one for every project, in person or online, and clients tell me it is the moment the design "clicks."

Here are 30 of them from real projects: Los Angeles and Orange County homes, nurseries and kids' rooms, outdoor spaces, and online design clients across the country. Several are shown with their furniture floor plan, because the board and the plan are designed together — the board decides what, the plan decides where.

Want a board (and a plan, selections and a shopping list) for your own room? That is exactly what the Complete Room Design — $397 includes, for anyone, anywhere. To study 140+ more boards, see The Big Book of Mood Boards (2026 Edition).

Every board above started with the same questions: what does the room need to do, what stays, what is the budget, and what feeling do you want when you walk in. Answer those and the furniture almost chooses itself. If you would like me to answer them with you, start with a Complete Room Design ($397) or an online consultation ($150/hr).
